Villahermosa, Tabasco, Mexico June 24, 2009

Villahermosa, Tabasco was the beginning of another two-week trip to Mexico for Global Workers’ Mexico Director, Griselda Vega. This trip is focused on expanding our network to the states of Tabasco and Guerrero, and creating new alliances with NGO’s in those states that are working with transnational migrants.

Mexico City, Mexico June 26, 2009

Griselda’s next stop was Mexico City. In Mexico City, she had the opportunity to attend the inauguration of Instituto de Estudio y Divulgacion Sobre Migracion A.C (INEDIM)(http://imprasc.net:29572/Paginas/Inicio.aspx). Traveling to the mountainous part of Guerrero, Griselda arrived in Tlapa de Comonfort, Guerrero, to meet with El Centro de Derechos Humanos de la Montaña “Tlachinollan.” (www.tlachinollan.org). The day began very early, leaving Tlapa at 7 a.m. to meet with the Centro Regional de Defensa de DDHH Jose Maria Morelos y Pavon, A.C. (Centro Morelos). There Griselda met with the two attorneys on staff and the Director who explained the various issues that the indigenous communities surrounding Chilapa have – whether it’s a land rights issue, or inter-family violence, or a violation of human rights – they try to help as much as they can.
