Paradigmatic Cases Workshop

The week after the II International Temporary Labor Migration Forum, INEDIM coordinated a series of trainings to various personnel of the Guatemalan government. There were two days of trainings to personnel of the Guatemalan Department of Labor, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Human Rights Attorney General Office. Global Workers facilitated two sections of these trainings. Cathleen and Global Workers Defender Network member, Aroldo Palacios, facilitated the section “Paradigmatic Cases within the context of recruitment: the Guatemala – Canada case”. In this section, Aroldo presented the Guatemalan legal framework for recruitment, gaps and scope of the law, and presented some hypothetical cases so that the attendees could put it into practice. Omar facilitated the analysis of a flowchart on recruitment and how to respond to recruitment abuse situations.
