Training to Guatemala overnment agencies: “U.S temporary work visas system: process, legal framework; and international recruitment”
 
In a unprecedented event, Global Workers convened the Guatemalan Department of Justice, the Department of Labor, and Ministry of Foreign Affairs for a one-day training to their personnel on “U.S temporary work visas system: process, legal framework; and international recruitment.”
 
The training started with a diplomatic opening by Vice-minister Carlos Ulban,  Ambassador Marta Eulalia Estrada Xicara, and Public Prosecutor Luis Archila.Then Guatemalan U.S. Embassy gave a presentation on their role in providing temporary work visas. 
 
This training was part of a series of coordination efforts between Global Workers and the Guatemalan Government to respond to fraud during the recruitment of Guatemalan temporary workers to work in the U.S. The goal was to provide these agencies with the knowledge and tools to better respond to specific cases of worker rights violations.
